Camp Hip Hop

Camp Hip Hop

camp-hiphop2Hip hop is a broad conglomerate of artistic forms and  is characterized by four distinct elements, all of which represent the different manifestations of the culture: RAP MUSIC (oral), TURNTABLISM  or “DJing” (aural), BREAK DANCING (physical) and GRAFFITI ART (visual). Despite their contrasting methods of execution, they find unity in their common association as the ultimate tools of inner-city expression.

camp-hiphopHip Hop Camp pays respect to the culture, and will introduce students to each of the four elements through experiential learning and multimedia study of history and culture that will touch on rhythm, language, poetry, songwriting, and the art of improvisation/free-style, the basics of DJing, the Basics of beat-making and unique introductions to Graffiti and BreakDancing.

Each hip hop camper will develop their own “brand,” MC name, and learn the basics of social media for artistic pursuits.  This class is taught by a group of experienced rappers, educators, producers, and artists that will work with your child as an equal in creating music and memories.
